Dear Colleagues

Regent has some sad news to report. Our founder, chairman, colleague and friend, Peter Rowell, passed away on 18 May, after a long struggle with leukaemia. Peter’s courage, dignity, and determination were an inspiration to us all. He was utterly resolute that he would continue to pursue the business that he loved as long as was humanly possible. He continued with a normal working life, despite all of the medical attention he needed, up until a couple of weeks before he died. If sheer guts could defeat cancer, he would have done it.

Peter had a long and illustrious career. In 1987, he left his US-based position as the President of International Data Corporation to return to the UK and to found Regent Associates, which has now become Regent Partners International. Peter loved his job and loved the opportunities it gave him to meet people, particularly in the technology industries. He was a great professional, but in addition to that, he was unswervingly friendly and warm, and interested in everyone he met. He delivered extraordinary value to his clients and contacts. To his colleagues, he was kind, supportive, generous with his time, and utterly loyal.

Regent will continue to develop and flourish, but there will now be a gap in our lives that will not be filled.

Although his family would like his funeral to be relatively small, for relatives and close friends, there will be a memorial service for Peter. I will let you know the details when they are finalized.
