The UK subsidiary of Civica announced yesterday that it had struck a deal with software company PSCAL, in a bid to extend the company's presence in the market.
An undisclosed amount has been paid for the Gloucestershire-based company, which supplies financial management software and related services to the National Health Service.
It means that Civica will now be able to move into the health market with its IT systems and business processes, which it provides primarily for the public sector.
Around 200 primary and secondary healthcare organisations will now fall under the company's responsibility.
Simon Downing, chief executive of Civica, said: "PSCAL's customer base, product set and specialist insight extend our capabilities at a time of significant structural, demographic and financial chance in the health sector."
This announcement comes exactly one month after Civica announced its acquisition of records management support specialist Cave Tab. The move allowed the company to supply products to 97 per cent of local authorities in the UK.
