Motorola Mobility has acquired Three Laws Mobility (3LM), a developer of security software and mobile products for the Android system, as it looks to ramp up its business offerings.
The deal, financial terms of which have not been disclosed, was completed in 2010.
Alongside bringing 3LM's technology into its product range, Motorola expects to offer 3LM's solutions to other handset makers.
It will remain a business unit within Motorola.
3LM's technology is primarily focused on the use of Android in business and government environments, aiming to make it more accessible and manageable within the corporate world.
"Along with their technology, the 3LM team brings deep knowledge and expertise in the development of enterprise security features and software for Android," said Christy Wyatt, corporate vice president of software and services product management for Motorola Mobility.
"With 3LM, we are excited to be able to work across the Android ecosystem to accelerate the adoption of Android devices by corporate users and their IT departments."
Motorola Mobility became a fully independent company last month in a spin-off from Motorola, Inc.
