Computer giant Dell will acquire the security-as-a-service (SaaS) firm SecureWorks, the company confirmed in a statement.
The acquisition will help Dell expand its SaaS and information security expertise.
SecureWorks' products revolve around managed security, risk consulting and threat intelligence, used by businesses of varied sized in the financial, utilities, healthcare, retail and manufacturing sectors.
Dell said building a reputation as a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) is the next important step in its strategy to improve efficiency and ease-of-use for its clients.
"The frequency and sophistication of attacks on technology infrastructure and malicious attempts to access data, requires reliable, capable and innovative information security," said Peter Altabef, president of Dell Services.
"We look forward to welcoming SecureWorks team members - who bring their passion and dedication to serving clients with best-in-class security services - to Dell and our clients."
Last month, Dell purchased Compellent Technologies, a US storage solutions and data management firm, for $960 million (£610 million).
