Widnes-based telecoms firm Aerelink has completed the acquisition of Rapier Systems in a move to offer a "fuller, more comprehensive service".
The acquisition of Rapier Systems, a networking and wireless telecoms company, will see Aerelink become a direct business partner of Alcatel-Lucent, a business communications solutions provider with a global reach in over 130 countries.
Keith Downie of Alcatel-Lucent welcomed the announcement and said this would be a key partnership to aid expanding its presence in the UK and Ireland.
Meanwhile Steve Swift, managing director of Aerelink, said: "Both Aerelink and Rapier Systems maximise each others strengths and the acquisition will help us to provide a fuller, more comprehensive service, much faster than if we had developed this arm of the business in-house."
The move represents a big step in the firm's plans for growth, he added.
Working with Alcatel-Lucent, which is based in France and achieved revenues of Euro 15.2 billion in 2009, will allow Aerelink to gain access to its end-to-end product portfolio.
