IT management software company CA has made a move to acquire Nimsoft in an all-cash transaction valued at $350 million (£233 million).
Nimsoft, a provider of IT performance and availability monitoring solutions, caters largely to the emerging enterprises sector, which CA estimates will account for approximately one-quarter of software spending in the company's market space by 2013.
It is anticipated that the majority of Nimsoft's 120 employees will remain with CA after the transaction is completed.
Chris O'Malley, executive vice-president of CA, said that the acquisition will equip the firm to capture important growth market segments, including emerging enterprises, emerging economies and managed service providers.
"Penetration of these markets will further expand our global leadership in IT management and complement our existing strength with large enterprise customers," he added.
Last month, CA announced a definitive agreement to acquire cloud computing firm 3Tera for an unspecified amount, building on its previous acquisitions of Cassatt, NetWoS and Oblicore.
