Technology giant IBM has announced the closing of its acquisition of Initiate Systems, a private software company specialising in data integrity and data management systems.
Iniatiate largely serves clients in healthcare and government organisations, providing timely access to patient and clinical data.
While financial details of the deal were not disclosed, IBM hopes that the acquisition will enhance its ability to provide governments with access to information from multiple systems and agencies.
Arvind Krishna, general manager of information management at IBM, said that the move will help its clients to serve people more efficiently.
"IBM's acquisition of Initiate underscores our commitment to using advanced technology to help solve problems faced by both healthcare agencies and governments around the world," he added.
The news comes shortly after IBM announced the acquisition of Intelliden, a provider of intelligent network automation software, as part of its strategy to provide clients with greater support to managing network infrastructure.
