Semiconductor design and manufacturing firm Open-Silicon has announced the acquisition of Silicon Logic Engineering (SLE) in a bid to enhance its derivative integrated circuit (IC) design capabilities.
The specific technology and market design knowledge of SLE is hoped to increase Open-Silicon's front-end capabilities, while the company plans to continue using its existing network of design services partners.
Dr Naveed Sherwani, president and chief executive officer of Open-Silicon, said that with companies looking to leverage their engineering investments, the merger provides the capability the company's customers are looking for.
"With this merger, Open-Silicon has created one of the broadest partner ecosystems for IC development which includes multiple foundry, IP, and assembly/test partners to provide the best possible technologies for each IC," he added.
Open-Silicon recently announced that it had won the Global Semiconductor Alliance award for the industry's Most Respected Private Semiconductor Company for the second year in a row.
