The Australian telecoms market will undergo dramatic changes over the next year, according to a new report.
Research and Markets' Australia - Analysis - The Telecoms Market Moving into 2010, suggests that some telephony and internet products may become more popular.
The merger of the third and fourth-largest mobile network operators Vodafone and Hutchison Australia will fundamentally alter the competitive landscape, it continues.
"If VHA is successful in the longer term the company may challenge both Optus and Telstra in an effort to become the largest service provider in Australia," the report states.
Another critical issue for the Australian telecommunications industry is whether Telstra will be structurally separated in order to promote competition, it continues.
Research and Markets has also highlighted the importance of the Australian telecoms market for vendors entering the sector, pointing out that technological infrastructure in the country is improving.
