Software provider Compuware has announced the signing of a definitive agreement under which it will acquire web application experience management firm Gomez for $295 million (£183.5 million) in cash.
The deal is hoped to turn Compuware into the world's leading software-as-a-service infrastructure management provider, offering unified visibility, isolation and resolution of application performance problems from the data centre to the customer.
"This agreement marks a fundamental breakthrough in how IT and business leaders can manage the performance of all the applications that drive their businesses," commented Jaime Ellertson, chief executive officer and president of Gomez.
Gomez's 272 employees are expected to remain in the new company after the transaction is completed, which is scheduled to take place in November.
Compuware recently showcased its end-to-end application performance solutions, demonstrating a new approach to managing application performance from the perspective of the end user, at the Cisco Live Conference in Brisbane, Australia.
