Social media integrator Yovia and hi-tech research and development company SourceFuse has announced a strategic merger to harness the growth of social media and open source markets.
A growing demand for Yovia's online advertising network and SourceFuse's software-as-a-service technology platforms has been cited as the reason for the merger, following 18 months of collaboration as part of a joint project to optimise online marketing.
Jalali Hartman, chief executive officer of Yovia, said the merger agreement will help the firm to keep up with its rapid growth.
"We need to be able to set-up and drive large-scale communities quickly and communicate in a real way with millions of people," he commented.
"This requires the use of crowd-sourcing and rapid deployment of open source technology."
The new company will employ 62 people and have offices in New York, Delhi and Florida.
SourceFuse offers a range of services in the software sector ranging from managed services and custom application development to application support.
