Global intelligence and investigation management software provider i2 has announced that it has entered into a merger agreement which will see it acquire Knowledge Computing Corporation.
Knowledge Computing, which created the award-winning analysis software COPLINK, has provided its products to thousands of law enforcement agencies across the US.
Cambridge-based firm i2 recently launched its Analyst's Notebook 8 product, part of the firm's Intelligence-Led Operations Platform which is used by government and law enforcement agencies to counter criminal and terrorist threats.
The merged company will have 350 global employees and will serve 4,500 clients in the public and private sectors across 149 countries.
Robert Griffin, who will serve as chief executive officer of the new company, commented: "The merger between i2 and KCC not only strengthens business operations across core markets but, more importantly, is one that we believe will spur tremendous innovation that benefits our global customer base."
