Belfast-based software and services provider ICS Computing has been acquired by UK share registration and employee services firm Equiniti.
The purchase was agreed for an undisclosed sum and will allow Equiniti, which currently employs 2,000 people, to expand its operations through ICS's offices in Belfast and Chennai.
ICS, which was established in 1966, offers a range of IT software and services in accounting, human resources and public sector software.
"This is a significant milestone for Equiniti, as we grow our capability to become a business process outsourcing provider," said William Dye, chief executive of Equiniti.
ICS' skills and capabilities "will enable us to broaden our offer into HR and payroll, accounting and distribution services, and public sector software", he added.
RSA (formerly Royal Sun & Alliance), one of Equiniti's best-known clients, last year celebrated winning a Best Employee Share Ownership Plan at the European Awards 2008.
