Trustwave - a provider of data security and payment card compliance management services - has acquired Mirage Networks for an undisclosed sum.
Mirage's Network Access Control (NAC) technology safeguards access points within networks - preventing devices from entering and potentially spreading viruses or malware.
The NAC technology is capable of swiftly detecting and isolating rogue devices with minimum network disruption.
It now becomes part of Trustwave's managed security services including secure email, network security monitoring, vulnerability scanning and log monitoring.
Robert J McCullen, chairman and chief executive officer of Trustwave, says the acquisition complements the firm's current portfolio.
"Malware that circumvents traditional security measures or results from insider abuse of network access is stopped with Mirage Networks patented NAC technology," he states.
Mirage has been the recipient of several industry gongs, including SC Magazine's Reader's Trust Award 2007 for best endpoint security.
Trustwave has worked with more than 30,000 organisations, big and small, assisting them with compliance and network infrastructure.
