ARM today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Logipard AB, a Swedish video internet protocol company (IP) company.
The deal brings video and imaging technology to the ARM portfolio, expanding what the firm can offer the market in terms of memory controllers, graphics processors, video engines, physical IP and embedded firmware.
Logipard's video IP has been shipped in more than 30 million mobile phone units to date.
The details of the transaction were not disclosed in the trading statement from ARM.
Lance Howarth, vice-president and general manager of the media processing division at ARM, comments: "Video acceleration and processing technologies have become critical for the development of many consumer electronics products, complementing the ARM Cortex CPU and ARM Mali GPU IP already incorporated into many high-performance mobile devices."
ARM designs and manufactures technology used in digital products, such as microprocessors, enabling software, cell libraries and embedded memories.
