Wavecom has been selected by DENSO to work on a major telecommunications development scheme.
The France-based firm - which specialises in wireless communications - announced that it has already completed the pre-production stage of the development.
Wavecom will provide DENSO - a Japanese and global auto manufacturer - with a wireless communication module.
It will be used as part of an in-car telematics scheme - telematics has various applications for drivers, including use in navigation, road safety and for vehicles' implemented communications technology such as built-in computers.
The president of Wavecom Asia-Pacific Didier Dutronc says: "We are extremely honoured that Wavecom has been selected by DENSO, a recognised world leader in automotive electronics to explore the telematics design and development."
DENSO makes high-tech automotive part such as engine management, climate control and electronics components, counting among its customer base all the world's leading car makers.
