Cable and Wireless has announced the launch of its Next Generation Network - also known as the Multi-Service Platform (MSP) - in India.
Indian customers will be able to utilise the communications giant's networking services, which the firm says will protect from connection failures.
The news means that Cable and Wireless has become the first international operator to receive all the essential security clearances from the Indian government to provide IP-based products.
Commenting on the announcement, Sunanda Das, the managing director of India Cable and Wireless, says: "We will be able to provide resilient and flexible services to corporates in India based on our robust infrastructure.
"This will also allow us to offer our existing global services in Indian market."
Investment of $30 million (£22.1 million) was made by the company in building up MSP.
Cable and Wireless has operated in India since 1995 and has more than 500 employees in five offices around the country, which the firm sees as the fastest growing telecoms market outside the UK.
Last year the group announced that revenues were up by five per cent in an interim report.
