Earlybird Venture Capital has completed an initial round of financing for German telecoms firm Nfon.
The amount of cash injected into the company, which provides web-based communication solutions has not been revealed, but will be used to expand its business.
Dr Hendrik Brandis, partner at Earlybird, said: "IP-based technologies are the future of telephony. Nfon combines strong management with a successful business model and highly innovative technology."
Marcus Otto, founder of the German firm, added that Earlybird would prove to be a strong partner for his company and will allow it to push forward with its future plans.
Last month, mobile search engine firm Taptu revealed it had secured £6.45 million in series B funding from existing backers 3i Sofinnova.
According the company, the move will allow the business to improve its position as firms become more aware of the benefit of advertising and marketing via the internet on mobile web.
