Check Point Software Technologies has signed an agreement which will see it acquire Nokia's security appliance business.
The IT firm has worked closely with the mobile giant in the past and helped develop Nokia's security offerings in the first place.
Gil Shwed, chairman and chief executive officer at Check Point, said: "Adding Nokia's security appliance portfolio into Check Point's broad range of security solutions is the natural conclusion of our long collaboration, and will assure a smooth path forward for our mutual customers."
Nokia has already helped the firm achieve a strong position in the security appliance market, he added.
Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed at this point.
Earlier this month, Nokia completed the takeover of mobile phone operating system (OS) provider Symbian.
The company will now press ahead with its plans to develop a leading open source mobile OS, a project which Nokia is collaborating with a number of other firms on.
