Virtualisation software provider VMware has acquired graphics technology firm Tungsten Graphics.
Details relating to the takeover have not been released by VMware but the deal follows its acquisition of Blue Lane Technologies in October.
Info World reports that an announcement of Tungsten Graphic's website read: "November 26, 2008: Tungsten Graphics has been acquired by VMware. Open source graphics technology development will continue as part of VMware's engineering team."
It is hoped the deal will help VMware to develop and deliver industry-leading 3D graphics virtualisation to its clients, with previous creations by Tungsten including an enhanced Direct Rendering Infrastructure and the Gallium3D format.
The Society of Information Technology Management (Socitm) recently announced it had merged with IT professional support organisation The Charity IT Resource Alliance (Citra).
Under the merger, all Citra members will be registered with Socitm from January 1st, reported Public Technology.
