STMicroelectronics will not engage in any more large acquisitions after it completes it deal for ST-NXP Wireless.
According to Carlo Bozotti, president and chief executive officer of the European microchip vendor, the purchases and divestments the firm has made in the last two years are enough for the time being, reports the EE Times.
However, this does not necessarily mean the firm will be engaging in no activity of any kind.
Speaking to a congregation of customers and press, Mr Bozotti said: "We will not see acquisitions of similar size, but we may see acquisitions and divestitures to enhance the positions of business units."
Meanwhile, the Financial Times reports that Microchip Technology is set nominate members to the Atmel board after having a takeover bid rejected.
The submissions will be made before Atmel's annual general meeting after it dismissed its rivals bid as "unacceptably conditional" and "subject to significant execution risk".
