Regional fibre-based bandwidth provider Zayo has signed an agreement to acquire network assets in six markets from Citynet.
The accepted offer - which is the company's 11th takeover deal since July 2007 - is expected to close at the end of this month.
Zayo said its current network spans 18,700 metro and regional fibre route miles in 20 states, serving over 1,200 on-net locations, while its recent acquisition from the Bridgeport, West Virginia-based firm will bring an additional 300 route miles of fibre to its core network.
John Scarano, chief operating officer of Zayo Group and president of Zayo Bandwidth, said: "This acquisition expands our footprint to include three new metro markets, while growing our networks in Chicago and Cincinnati."
He added this acquisition would boost the company's presence in these areas and better position the firm to meet the growing needs of its existing and targeted customers.
Earlier this month, Zayo signed a deal with T-Mobile covering new backhaul agreements for six major US markets.
