Nokia Siemens Networks' microwave technology systems are to be purchased by DragonWave in a takeover agreement, it has been announced today (November 4th).

The Ottawa-based microwave solutions company - which now has operations in more than 50 countries across the world - is to acquire Nokia Siemens' operational support arms and related support functions.

It is expected that this deal - which now has to undergo regulatory examination - will be completed at some stage during the first quarter of 2012.

Under the terms of the agreement, the firms will jointly co-ordinate all development activities in the future.

Marc Rouanne, head of network systems at Nokia Siemens, commented that this strategic relationship will ensure its customers "continue to receive high-quality services and sales support" but with the added bonus of enjoying DragonWave's "industry leading technology".

"Our intention is to capitalise on DragonWave's proven capabilities for innovative product development and focus on our end-to-end solutions," he added. ADNFCR-1833-ID-800787008-ADNFCR
