Microsoft is considering the possibility of getting involved in a takeover deal for Yahoo, it has been reported today (October 20th).
According to the Wall Street Journal, the technology giant is discussing a potential acquisition plan of Yahoo with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board - one of private equity organisation Silver Lake Partners' investors.
Quoting unnamed sources, the news source indicated that Microsoft would provide several billions of dollars of funding for the purchase, with the rest of the necessary cash being arranged by banks.
"Silver Lake and the CPP Investment Board would kick in the rest of the amount, which would be less than what Microsoft contributes," it was added.
Apparently, this news may have derailed numerous other bids on the table from alternative investors.
This comes after it emerged yesterday (October 19th) that Permira is set to acquire Alcatel's Genesys call centre software arm for a cash sum of around $1.5 billion (£949 billion).
