HTC Corporation has today (October 18th) unveiled plans to complete a takeover of fellow technological company Inquisitive Minds.
The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturing giant - which was established in 1997 - has revealed in a statement that it is set to make an offer of around $13 million (£8.2 million) to acquire the US-based children's software company.
In recent times, HTC has revealed its determination to accelerate the development of its applications in order to better compete with rivals such as Apple and it is thought bosses recognise Inquisitive Minds as an ideal option to extend its presence in America.
Inquisitive Minds owns the Zoodles brand - which provides specialist software tools and programs to youngsters - and HTC perceives this as a vital sector in which to enhance its presence.
This comes after a source told Reuters last week that Sony is looking into the possibility of completing a full purchase of Sony Ericsson in the near future to improve its smartphone business.
