Facebook has completed its takeover of start-up network friend.ly - a site that encourages communication by asking questions.
A spokesperson for the social media juggernaut said that it has admired the Silicon Valley's work and is looking forward to engaging with their millions of followers.
According to All Facebook, friend.ly currently has 10,077 daily active users, which is down from its all-time high of more than 1.6 million.
The social network has re-launched its own Questions app, however this works more for one-off polls rather than prompting communication and dialogue.
In response to the news of the takeover this week, friend.ly said: "We're excited about this because we feel the spirit of friend.ly aligns well with Facebook's vision and we're thrilled to be joining such an innovative company."
This year, social media has been a focus of many recent deals, as Facebook has made several acquisitions and Twitter took over British company TweetDeck.
