RTL is reportedly readying itself to make an investment in Polish media broadcaster TVN.
Several German publications have been speculating about the move and it is thought the deal could be worth around $1.47 billion (£897 million).
Chief executive officer at RTL Gerhard Zeiler stated that his enterprise is looking to expand into emerging markets around the world and is interested in Poland.
Last month, sources told Reuters that ITI Group, which owns TVN, was looking to sell its 56 per cent stake in the company and had approached five possible buyers.
These included Bertelsmann, Time Warner and Fox.
The news provider noted that since the beginning of July, the value of shares in TVN have declined by 22 per cent.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Sina Corp is expected to pay between $30 and $40 million for a four per cent stake in Chinese online video portal Todou Holdings.
