Secure communications company Vislink has announced this week that it has acquired the share capital of privately-owned Gigawave, in a deal worth £3.75 million.
The deal between the two companies is aimed at complementing Vislink's engineering capabilities, product portfolio and geographic research, as Gigawave specialises in providing wireless camera, microwave and antenna products for the broadcast market.
John Hawkins, chief executive of Vislink, said: "The Gigawave business and its management are well known to us and we look forward to the Gigawave and Vislink teams working together, sharing product developments, distribution and sales opportunities."
As part of the deal Gigwave will be integrated into the operations of its new owners, with managing director Henry Barczynski taking on the role of chief marketing officer for Vislink.
This will be Vislink's first acquisition since August 2008, when the company secured a deal with Pacific Microwave Research to acquire the company for £9.1 million.
